Tip Tuesday - Make-Up

Eyebrow Proportion

One of the first things I learn during the make-up class I took was eyebrows and believe it or not there is a proper why to get the right eyebrow proportion for your face.  To me, eyebrows really finish the face and some times all you need is a little foundation, blush/highlight, eyebrows filled, mascara, and lip color to get a simple and quick look.

Above you see a diagram on how to measure the eyebrow proportion. To start take a straight object (eyeshadow brushes work great) and measure from the end of your nostril to the beginning of the tear duct. This is where your brow should start.  And then measure from the end of the nostril to to the end of eye and this is where your eyebrow should end.

Now here comes the tricky part, the arch. The diagram above says to measure from the end of the nostril to the center of the pupil but I have also seen diagrams where it measures from the end of the nostril to the end of the iris to get the highest point. Personally, I prefer the end of the iris.  I feel it looks more natural.

After you have measured and marked with an eyeliner or eyebrow pencil, it is time to tweeze away.  For tweezing, it is best to pull the skin taut between your index finger and thumb and then tweeze the hair in the direction it grows. Tweeze hairs line by line to you make sure you don't over pluck.

Another tool I like to use is the orange tool shown above - an eyebrow razor. I use this to clean up between my eyebrows and to define the upper lines of my eyebrows.

And lastly, for thickness, this will really depend on your preference as there is really no right or wrong. It is what you like and are comfortable with. Like I prefer my brows to be thicker and Stephanie goes for a thinner brow. Don't think you have to go for the "Cara Delevingne" look cause only that girl can work those brows!

Oh, and excuse the not so great photo above. Stephie wasn't available and I had to improv :)
