NYC April 2014

The girls took New York!  Well not all of it, we hung out in Soho.  Erica, Mom, and I went to New York for Erica's birthday.  The objective: shop.  Specifically at Topshop.  I think it was a pretty successful trip.  We will share our "haul" in another post.  The weather was perfect and we just missed the rain.

We took the train into Grand Central Terminal.  You could spend an entire day just in the train station alone.  The markets, restaurants, and history; all gorgeous.

We made our way down to Soho and along the way took in all the Spring blooms.

Then we got down with the shopping.  We hit Topshop, Zara, Forever21, and Sephora

New York is crazy, but I can't wait to go back.

Pictures Make The Best Gifts!

25 April 2014

Noah and Ethan wanted to give Sara/Mommy a bunch of photos for her birthday.  We LOVE the idea of giving photos as a gift.  We went to the beach on a kinda chilly day but we were just happy it wasn't raining, or snowing!

Spring Sprouts

22 April 2014

Happy Earth Day!!

My yard is starting to bloom and I took some time to take photos of all the lovely Spring flowers.  Springtime is so exciting.  All these flower start to pop up and it's a sure sign that  warmer weather is here to stay; for a while anyway.  There's something inspiring about these little flowers knowing it's their time and breaking through the cold ground to sprout.

What's growing in your backyard?

Happy Easter Sunday!!

Drug Store Mini Haul

09 April 2014

So, I had a $3 coupon at CVS that was about to expire, that's my excuse.  I didn't get too much but I wanted to share some of my drug store finds with you all.  Some are repurchases, but most are new items I'm experimenting with.  Let me know if you've tried any of these.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Quench - I've been wanting to try Baby Lips for a while and thought I should try out the lip balm line with their basic, no scent stick.  It has SPF 20 and is super soft.  I think this will be something that improves my lips over time.  So far, so good.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Light/Pale 120 - I've purchased this before but couldn't get the make-up to come out of the tube!  I am forever looking for something to cover up or help reduce my under-eye dark circles.  After Erica told me this is what she uses, I decided to give it another try.  Thankfully this one worked, the product came out just fine.  I'm not sure if I bought the right shade for me, but I think this will do the trick.  I'm really looking for something to reduce dark circles, not just cover them up.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink 05 - This comes in ten different colors which is great, but I had a difficult time deciding between this color and a more peachy color, Rose Petal.  Ultimately, I chose Fresh Pink, it's a little lighter than the cream blush I currently use.

L'Oreal 12hr Infallible The Super Slim liquid eyeliner in Black - I love this eyeliner.  The 0.4mm felt tip is the best, it is so tiny and precise.  For everyday I don't like to make my eyeliner too thick, I just want a subtle look, this works perfectly.

Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème - I needed some serious hand therapy after this winter.  This hand cream is really thick and has a warm almond smell.  I'm diggin' it.  I was trying to decide between Burt's Bees and Bag Balm.  I think next time I will try Bag Balm, but this is working wonderfully so far.

So, that was my trip to the drug store, and I left with another coupon.  This one for $5!  So, I'll definitely be heading back for more stuff.  I restrained myself this time from buying any nail polish, so I'll have to get a few next time.  Hopefully there will be some new colors out.  What did you get on your latest haul?  Anything I should try?  Comment and let us know!

Tip Tuesday - Face Shapes Part 5 & an Update!

08 April 2014

Here is the final part to the Face Shape series also this will be the last Tip Tuesday!  Stephanie and I decided that we want to switch things up here at LovelyUs and not feel like we have to throw a post together just to get stuff up because we have to.  With that said, over the next couple of weeks things will be changing here at LovelyUs including a new website design so stay tuned!

The last face shape in this series is the heart shape.  You will be able to read the last part here which will have links to all the other posts as well.

Heart or inverted triangle face has a forehead that is significantly wider than the chin and jawline. The chin on a heart face is very prominent and pointed.  Also the cheekbones will be higher on the face but may not show due to the width of the face.

With contouring on this face shape, you want to focus on the outer edges of the cheeks and forehead.  You want to create the illusion that will bring the forehead and points of the cheeks inward. The illustration above is a great example of where you should apply bronzer and your favorite highlighter.

I hope you enjoy this series and learned some tips for your face shape!

* Just an FYI, the face drawing shown above was found on Pinterest (don't forget to follow us!). I do not know who the original creator was due to there being multiple links for the same drawing.

Happy Sunday!! - Color Series III

06 April 2014

We hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far. The weather has finally turned and this has been a very springy weekend. We can see crocuses sprouting everywhere and life is coming back from the dead of winter.  I took a trip out to Whole Foods for some really good produce. It smells so fresh in there and it was very GREEN!
