Top 5 Favorite Instagrammers

30 January 2015
Almost every free second I have, I'm checking my phone to see if there have been any new posts on Instagram.  I joined a little over four years ago, and I've been hooked ever since.  This is my first post ever.  I like to think that I've come a long way.

Since then there have been a lot of photos of my food, if it looks particularly yummy, my cat, pretty clouds, and anything else I thought would fill a little square.  Instagram is a perfect way to journal your life.  I can look back at my feed and remember exactly what I was doing, how I was feeling, when I took that photo.

I'm always on the search for new photographers and artists to follow.  I thought I would share some of my favorites with you and maybe you'd share yours with me.

Anastasia Volkova - I followed Anastasia here from Flickr.  Her selfie game is the best in the biz.

Ryocoryocoryoco - I think she was the first person I ever followed on Instagram.  Her photography is so dreamy.

Denise Bovee - She and her girls are always on an adventure.

Ariele Alasko - I love the photos of her wood work, but also her snuggly dog & cat.

Indra - Her photos are gorgeous and quintessentially Instagram.

All of my favorites are women.  I think I love their instagram feeds so much because they all seem like free spirits.  They are out there doing what they love to do and are true artists, so inspiring.  Who is your favorite instagrammer?

Happy Sunday - Funday!!

25 January 2015

Happy Sunday everyone!!  I'm using my Moscow Mule mugs for the first time.  But instead of vodka, ginger beer, & lime there's tequila, triple sec, & margarita mix!  And a few blueberries.  It's very delicious.

Happy Sunday!!

18 January 2015

Today was rainy and very icy out.  The perfect day for cuddles. I hope everyone stayed safe today.

Curling up on the couch now to watch some football.  Happy Sunday!!

Best of Makeup - 2014

15 January 2015

With 2014 officially over, I thought it would be a great time to share my favorite makeup from this past year. I will dive into the different categories and tell you my favorite (or favorites cause sometimes it was hard to pick just one!) And check out the end of the post as I'll let you know what I'm looking forward to trying in 2015!

Face - Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
I have tried a couple of different face primers in 2014 but always went back to my Smashbox primer. There are a couple of reasons why I love this primer. First, it really does help with extending the life of my makeup. I can definitely tell a difference when I don't use this primer. Secondly, I love the consistency of this primer. It's not a gel formula which is one of the reasons I always go back to it.  I am finding that many primers are going to this type of formula which never works well on my skin.

Eyes - Benefit Stay Don't Stray
Hands down my favorite eye primer of this year, especially since Benefit changed the packaging.  My favorite thing about this primer is how its tinted. The tinted helps control any imperfections on your lids as well as makes your eye shadows more pigmented.  And I can't forget the staying power.

Foundation - Revlon ColorStay Makeup
Revlon's ColorStay foundation was definitely my go to foundation for 2014. This foundation offers both great coverage and staying power. For being a drug store foundation, I highly recommend it.
There is only one word to describe this concealer, amazing! It was a late 2014 discovery but I haven't turned to any other concealer since. It offers the best coverage for blemishes, hyper pigmentation and under eye circles. It also blends like a dream which is a huge plus for me.

Powder - MAC Mineralize Skinfinish
All I have to say about this powder is if you haven't try it yet, you need to! It has a great formula that will mattify your foundation. You can also where this alone if you don't need foundation to cover imperfections as it does offer light coverage.  I generally apply this foundation using my Real Techniques Powder Brush.

Bronzer - Benefit Hoola Bronzer
What can I say about this bronzer that as not already been said before?! So far it's one of my favorite bronzers.  The shade and formula are great.  Easy to blend so you don't get the funky contour line (unless you like the line). It's really just an all around versatile item to have in your makeup collection.  You can even use it as an eyeshadow like I did here - Bronzed Eye featuring Hoola by Benefit

Blush Benefit Benetint & Benefit Rockateur
In 2014, I found myself using the same blush combination a lot.  First I would apply Rockateur to the higher areas of my cheeks and then apply Benetint to the apple of my cheeks. I enjoyed this combo as you get a highlight from the Rockateur but a rosie cheek color from the Benetint.

BrowsAnastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz & Benefit Gimme Brow
2014 was the year of the brow for myself and I think everybody else in the make-up world! Last year, I really started to pay more attention to filling in my brows and setting them.  To achieve my everyday brows, I mainly used Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. This brow pencil has the sharpest tip which helps achieve a really natural looking brow.  After filling in my brows with a pencil, I would then set it with the Benefit Gimme Brow.  I really adore this brow gel.  It's get for setting or even just to wear alone if you have to run out the door quick.

Eyeshadow - Urban Decay Naked3 & Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Palette
These two palettes have the eye shadows that I consistently used in 2014. The first is the Naked 3 palette, which is my favorite of the three, and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. Both of these offer a great range of eyeshadow colors for everyday basic looks. My favorite shadows from the Naked 3 palette are Nooner, Limit, and Factory.  While my favorite shadows in the Chocolate Bar palette are Milk Chocolate, Salted Caramel, and Marzipan. PS. the Chocolate Bar palette really does smell like chocolate! :)

MascaraBenefit They're RealFlower Beauty Zoom In Ultimate Mascara, & No7 Stay Perfect Mascara
Mascara was a tough category for me to pick just one as I generally wear at least two mascaras daily so I just picked the ones I usually go for.  Of course, Benefit's They're Real has to be part of my mascara favorites for 2014.  It's just so amazing how perfect this mascara is.

Another favorite of mine in 2014 was Flower Beauty's Zoom In Ultimate Mascara.  This mascara is from Drew Barrymore's makeup line and its a great formula, plus it has three different wands in one which is great in itself!

Lastly, I have been loving the No7 Stay Perfect Mascara.  This is a late 2014 discovery but its really the only mascara I have been using since I bought it.  The formula is great as it really does stay on your lashes all day and you don't get the mascara smudge my the end of your day. And for the formula, it's really easy to take off.

I hope you enjoyed my "Best of..".

In 2015, I'm definitely looking forward to expanding both my makeup collection as well as getting out of my comfort zone with how I wear my makeup daily.  Some brands I am looking forward to diving deeper into are NARS, Make Up For Ever, and Hourglass. While some specific items I am looking forward to trying are the Anastasia Beverly Hills single eyeshadows, theBalm's Mary Lou Manizer highlighter, and Kat Von D's Shade & Light palette.

I think my biggest goal is to start wearing more lipsticks as well as getting my hands on Soap & Glory makeup. This one is a stretch though because their makeup isn't sold or shipped to the United States but I am determined!

2015 is the year you definitely want to stay tuned to LovelyUs so like us on Facebook, Instagram, or Bloglovin'.  Stephie and I are looking to really expand what we do and really get this thing going!  So here's to 2015!

Happy Sunday!!

11 January 2015

So I had the bright idea of baking today. Just because, no reason. They didn't turn out perfectly, but I guess that's ok.

I hope everyone had a great

Pantone Color - Marsala 18-1438

10 January 2015

It's that time of year again, Pantone has announced their Color of the Year.  This year's color is number 18-1438, Marsala.  They describe this color as "a naturally robust and earthy wine red..".

When I saw this color, I fell in love. Its so romantic and feminine. And not to mention, it's so perfect to add into your every day make-up routine especially blushes and lip sticks. Below are some of my picks on how to incorporate Marsala into your make-up routine.

Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll Kiss & Blush - Color 10 Nude Insolent
Laura Mercier Creme South Lip Colour - Dulce de Leche
Nars Blush - Outlaw
tenoverten Nail Polish - Mulberry

Also don't forget Sephora has collaborated with Pantone Universe and created a collection that is focused around the Color of the Year.  I generally don't really like these collections that have been released in the past but this one is definitely catching my eye.

Happy Sunday: First Snow

04 January 2015

So, we've had our first snow fall of 2015.  It quickly got rained away, but it was nice for that moment.  Snow is one of those things that I like only when it's convenient for me.  When I don't have to go anywhere and when I have enough food in the house.  Otherwise, it's just a pain.

Everyday Photos: Taking Down Christmas

03 January 2015

I had to take a few more photos of the Christmas decorations before I took them down for the season.  Plus I wanted to use a few of the A Beautiful Mess presets.  I've had them for ages and haven't used them enough.

I love all the decorations, but I'm ready to have my house back to normal.  Also, it snowed today.  It was a nice quiet day around the house.

I'm ready to start with a clean slate for the New Year.  Anyone with me?

December Photo-A-Day Challenge: Finale!!

01 January 2015

Happy New Year!!

As it is now 2015 (omg!) the December Photo-A-Day Challenge is complete.  I had the best December.  It was super busy but it was all worth it.

One of my New Year's resolutions, I have so many, is to take more photos and one of the others is to start scrap booking again.  This year I've relied pretty heavily on my iphone, which is ok, but I want to get my Canon out more.

Did you make a New Year's resolution?
