Bristol, TN/VA

07 June 2015

In mid-May we took a family vacation to Bristol, Virginia.  It lays right on the state line with Tennessee.  We explored the surrounding attractions, parks, and towns.  It is so different than the North Eastern part of America.  It was awesome to see another part of the country.  The scenery was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the people were so friendly!

We stayed at the Abram Falls Cabin.  It was so peaceful.  The only sounds were of the birds and the Abram Falls water.

Our first full day there we drove about two and a half hours to Gatlinburg, TN.  We walked around the town visiting the Space Needle, the Village Shoppe, had Mexican food for lunch, and had a moonshine tasting at Ole Smoky distillery.

On our way back to the cabin we drove through Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains.  We saw beautiful fields of wild flowers, deers, bears!, and the most friendly butterflies.

The next day we visited the Bristol Caverns and the Wolf Hills Brewing Co. The Bristol Caverns were amazing.  I felt like a Goonie exploring those limestone caves!  And the Wolf Hills Brewing Co. was so cool.  It was the perfect place the just hang out and have a beer, or two.  My new mission is to find a similar spot in CT.

And on our final full day in Bristol we visited the South Holston Dam.

We all had a wonderful time exploring Bristol and the Virginia/Tennessee line.   It's not hard to imagine living there.  I think it's time to start planning our next vacation.
